SUMA Alumnus Becomes a Leader in Sustainability Career Coaching
Sustainability Management alumnus Mark D. Wolf is a career and executive coach, CEO of LavaFish Advisors (a sustainability consultancy), successful career changer and the Founder and Co-Chair of the International Society of Sustainability Professionals (ISSP) NYC chapter. He was recently awarded a Lifetime Achievement Award from ISSP Global, the largest global professional association for leaders across the sustainability sector, recognizing his leadership in building the premier chapter in New York City.

At Con Ed, an Alum Promotes Clean Energy
Shaun Hoyte, a Sustainability Management alumnus, brings over a decade of experience in NYC's energy and utilities sector to his role as an energy-efficiency program manager at Con Edison. Responsible for transforming the electric grid, he leads initiatives to enhance efficiency, generate revenue, and maximize societal benefits. Initially a blue-collar electrician, his career trajectory shifted midway through the SUMA program, aligning with his goal of entering management in clean energy. Inspired by the complexity of the electric grid and seeking impactful work, Hoyte navigates challenges, particularly supporting small businesses during the pandemic. His significant accomplishments include boosting minority- and women-owned business participation and spearheading workforce development initiatives, leading to the placement of numerous graduates in clean energy jobs. Hoyte's journey epitomizes the fusion of passion, expertise, and societal impact in sustainability leadership.

Pooja Chawda ('20) currently works for NYSERDA, analyzing regulatory landscapes to support the development of policies and strategies mandated by the Climate Law and Community Protection Act. Her work drives engagement for emerging efficiency, electrification, and carbon valuation policies.

Fusing Finance and Sustainability
Prior to SUMA, Donald Wissell ('18) worked for companies such as Bear Stearns, Bank of America, and BlackRock Financial Management. His interest in sustainability drew him to SUMA as he felt the underlying skills required for both disciplines were well-aligned; both require innovative thinking, analysis and problem-solving, complex project management, relevant marketing plans, implementation of new technologies, and public education.
